USHERS AND GREETERS A set of name badge holders and blanks are on the desk at
the back of the church. Please wear one on the days you are
an usher or greeter so it will help new people who come to
church catch your name easier and get to know you. Please
leave the name badge holders at the desk for use the next
week by others. Thanks

Guests/Visitors
Welcome, if you are a visitor or
guest, we'd like you to have a small token of our thanks for
coming. At the back of the sanctuary, there is a basket
with “potter” mugs and some little goodies in them. Our
church brochure & a pamphlet telling you about the United Church
of Christ are there as well. Please take one for each person.
We do have a
nursery available if you have young
children. It is staffed by volunteers and we are happy to have
your child come to stay with us while you are visiting. If you
have any questions
or concerns, please contact one of our deacons and they will
assist you.
The Ascension Challenge
Ever
wonder what it might have been like to be a disciple
when Jesus ascended into heaven? He gave them the
monumental task of making disciples of all the world.
Plus, they’d have to do it without relying on Jesus’
physical presence, as they had until then. Were the
disciples overwhelmed, uncertain, afraid?
Maybe, yet they went on to
spread the gospel throughout the world nonetheless. They
rose to the challenge because they fixed their gaze
above as they watched Jesus disappear into the clouds.
When we follow that example,
offering ourselves as willing servants and keeping our
eyes trained on Jesus instead of our circumstances,
there’s no limit to what God can accomplish through us.
Thank you for visiting
our web page.
Please come back!

HUGHES/STANLEY COUNTY RELAY FOR LIFE HONORS SURVIVORS AND
CAREGIVERS
“Carnival of Colours – Celebrating Hope”
The 12-hour Hughes/Stanley County Relay For Life is June 8, 2012
at Hollister Field, Pierre.
Cancer survivors and caregivers will be guests of honor at the
Survivor Reception from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Survivor Tent.People are invited to bring their stories of hope,
encouragement and inspiration during their bout with cancer. The
theme reflects all types of cancers. Join us for this time of
fellowship and support.
Survivorship seeks to celebrate those who live cancer free as
well as encourage those who are newly diagnosed.
At 6:00 p.m. the Opening Ceremonies begin and Cancer Survivors are
invited to walk the first lap of Relay For Life. Caregivers are
invited to join the survivors at the half way point to finish the
lap together. It’s a truly emotional lap.
At 10:00 pm, the Luminaria Ceremony begins. All names on the
luminarias are read in a solemn rendering of honoring and
remembering. For a donation of $10.00 you can designate a
luminaria In Honor of a cancer survivor, In Memory of a loved one or
friend who was lost to cancer or In Support of the caregivers or
family of those fighting cancer. Contact ACS at 224-6772 to order luminarias or to
learn more about Relay For Life. A luminaria order form may be
included in the church bulletin.
Dakotamart “We Care” Receipts
We have recently
signed up to be a part of Dakotamart’s “We Care” program. We will
receive a cash donation for the ministry of our church based
on a percentage of receipts. Your share is to simply remember
to bring your receipts to the Dakotamart box that will be kept in
the library whenever you have a few to share! Our thanks to
Denice M. for spotting an opportunity – not only to support our
congregation, but also to be a part of the wider community!

Everyone Can Serve
Look for opportunities to serve; don’t wait to be asked!
Remember: You can serve
without being a part of an “official” ministry.
FILLING BACKPACKS! Mayflower
Guild supports the food drive
for the Backpack Program throughout the year and
has placed a box by the office along with a food list.
Last year 314 students(!) were eligible for free meals through
the National School Lunch Program,
but over the weekend many of these children
will not have food in their homes
to provide for the meals they need.
These backpacks become a stopgap against hunger
in our communities!
A backpack food program form is
available at the back of the sanctuary or on the table
by the
office. You can donate to support a child, bring food
or
help pack bags. All are needed and important.
For as little as $150.00/year
a child in our community
will receive a child-friendly sack of food
each week throughout the school year.
Please purchase items that are individually
packaged.
Any and all contributions will help reach the
goal of providing a weekend package for 250-300 students in
Pierre and Ft. Pierre.
